FAQ

It’s a beginner-friendly grappling program for kids aged 4 to 7. There’s no punching or kicking. The focus is on learning how to control, pin, and move with a partner through fun, safe grappling games. It teaches kids how to move their bodies, build confidence, and stay calm under pressure.

This is a smaller, more beginner-focused group. Once your child gets a bit older or more experienced, they can move into the Junior group (8 to 12 years old), which includes more live grappling (rolling) and follows a belt and stripe ranking system.

That’s a common question. Some kids are ready at four, while others need a bit more time to settle in. We recommend trying a class first. Talk to us about our trial options. We'll support you in finding out if your child is ready and make sure the experience is fun and encouraging.

All kinds. Jiu-jitsu is great for improving focus, coordination, and confidence. It’s especially helpful for kids with ASD or ADHD, thanks to the structured, physical, and engaging nature of each session.

Yes, absolutely. Many parents stay and watch, especially for the first few classes. Your presence helps your child feel more comfortable and supported.

To start, a t-shirt and comfy shorts are fine. If you’re keen to continue, we have rash guards and jiu-jitsu shorts available in our Double Dragon shop. A kid’s mouthguard is optional but handy. Just talk to us about your trial options and we’ll guide you through the rest.
